34th International Workshop on Software Measurement (IWSM) and the 19th International Conference on Software Process and Product Measurement (MENSURA)

Sept. 23-25, 2026 Urla, Izmir, Turkey

JOURNAL FIRST TRACK

IWSM MENSURA 2026 invites presentations of high-quality journal papers that have been recently published or accepted. The goal of this track is to integrate journal-first presentations into the conference program and provide authors with an opportunity to present their work to the community.

We aim to accommodate as many journal-first presentations as possible within the final conference program.

The Journal First track targets papers that:

  • Align with the themes and scope of IWSM MENSURA 2026
  • Have been recently published or accepted for publication in a journal
  • Present work that has not been previously presented at a conference or workshop (i.e., the journal paper must not be an extension of prior conference/workshop publications)

Important Dates for Journal First Track:

  • Journal First Track submission due: August 1st, 2026
  • Notification of acceptance/rejection: August 20th, 2026

Eligibility Criteria

Authors are invited to submit a talk proposal if their paper meets the following criteria:

  • Scope: The paper must be relevant to the conference topics, particularly software measurement.
  • Publication Date: The paper must have been accepted in a journal after January 1, 2025.
  • Proof of Acceptance: Evidence must be provided, such as:
    • A listing on the journal’s official website, or
    • An acceptance email from the Editor-in-Chief
  • Originality: The paper must report entirely new research results that have not been previously published or presented in any form (e.g., conferences, workshops, or practitioner-oriented venues).
  • Presentation Status: The work must not have been previously presented at, or currently submitted to, any other conference.

Submission Requirements:
Authors are invited to submit a maximum one-page PDF proposal via the Journal First track. The proposal must clearly include the following elements (using the numbering below is recommended):

  1. Reference to the Journal Publication
Provide full bibliographic details along with a link to the published paper (if available).
  2. Proof of Acceptance Date
    This can be demonstrated through:
    • The published article (if the acceptance date is included), or
    • The official acceptance email (if the publication is not yet available or does not indicate the date).
  3. Justification for Journal First Eligibility
Explain how the paper satisfies the Journal First criteria by addressing:
    • Its relevance to the IWSM MENSURA audience
    • The novel contributions of the work
    • The prior work it builds upon
    • Why the work still offers sufficient novelty for presentation

Important Notes:

  • Accepted Journal First papers will not be included in the conference proceedings.
  • At least one author must register and present the paper at the conference.
